I took this video today of the owls in our backyard. The two little babies are adorable.

Someone stole my wallet out of my car today, drained my business checking account, as well as my personal savings, charged up my credit card and completely ruined my evening. I so hate thieves.
In addition to monetary problems, my State Bar Card was in there, along with the social security cards belonging to my daughters and me. I know, I know, you're not suppose to carry social security cards--I just didn't take them out after getting their passports. damn it. And I lost real black pearl earrings that were in the change pocket.
I also lost my last student ID. No more discounts at the movies.

Happy Birthday to the Twins! Their first year in a glance. It really went by fast.
There is not a person around who has not been touched by the devastation of cancer. And our family is no exception. Andre is a two time testicular cancer survivor.
We can all think about our lives and imagine if some key moment had gone drastically different and how that could have changed everything. It is so easy to take for granted that Andre survived cancer both times. That he had good doctors and good treatment. That he is healthy and we have beautiful children now. It is simply unimaginable that it could have gone any other way and yet I know that everyday someone loses someone they love to this horrible disease. In fact, we lost my uncle to cancer just this year. Cancer is something that we must continue to fight, to find new treatment, and improved methods for early detection.
So to help fight this terrible disease Andre is participating in St. Baldrick's Day and raising funds to help fight cancer in children. Children at Dell Children's Hospital undergoing chemotherapy will help shave the participants heads and share their stories on March 21st.
Andre hopes to raise $1000 for this cause, every little bit gets him closer to his goal. If you would like to donate to the cause you can go to his website at: http://bit.ly/BaldAndre or click here Bald Andre All proceeds are tax deductible and go directly to the foundation.

We've been playing peek-a-boo with the girls for a while now and they always start laughing. Well, this morning I put the girls in their crib as I was getting ready for work in the bathroom a few steps away. When I stuck my head out the door to check on them Evey and Rowan had a blanket and were playing peek-a-boo. It was so funny I ran downstairs and grabbed the camcorder.

I especially love it when Evey thinks she's hiding but you can still see her.

So I have this theory that any time you dress a baby up like an animal its funny--and vice versa--anytime you dress an animal up like a baby its funny.
Now, I know you may not believe me on this and so I'm offering proof:

Rowan with the head part of her Halloween lamb costume. Yes, that's the same head part that Joey was wearing. So I guess anytime you dress an animal up like another animal is also funny.

Anyhow, I told Andre that the dog's name was Mr. Peabody. All little white dogs in airports are named Mr. Peabody, unless they have grey on them and then they are named Higgins. So now anytime we see a little white dog, Andre will say, "Look, its Mr. Peabody."
So lately I've started thinking about writing a children's book about Mr.Peabody. "Mr.Peabody takes a trip," etc... Andre says, well you better do a search and make sure that no one else has written a book about a little white dog named Mr.Peabody.
This is what came up:
It's my Mr.Peabody! Could it be that after hours and hours of television as a young child this image of a white dog named Mr.Peabody is carefully recorded somewhere in my brain? So odd. Yet it also explains why I assumed Mr.Peabody would be intelligent and professor-like.
A search for "Higgins" revealed that Higgins was Benji's real name--which I probably heard somewhere since I loved Benji as a kid. And although he's actually more brown, this is the type of dog I imagined Higgins to be.
So much for creativity.

So the whole world is feeling the financial pinch--yes, I know pinch is not right word for it. "Crisis" is more like it. This is a bit from "This American Life," by Ira Glass at Chicago Public Radio. The podcast is free and its a very well done, understandable, even entertaining, explanation of what happened.
There are two podcasts--the first is from May of this year called, "The Big Pool of Money." It really explains the subprime mortgage disaster. Click Here
The second podcast is a follow up just released, called, "Another Frightening Show About the Economy." And it explains the bailout and the current problems. Click Here

We made this video the other day for Andre's stepmother's birthday. It was too funny not to post.
1st Father's Day
Tomorrow we become parents. Wow. I'm not sure what else to say about that. Its so overwhelming to even think about, but its wonderful and exciting too. I can't wait to see what they look like and to discover who they are. To finally see these little feet that kick me all night long. My twin girls. I find myself saying their names over and over again.
Our doctor scheduled me for an induction next Thursday the 10th!! So, unless I have the babies before then, we'll be going into the hospital to have our girls. Both girls are doing really well with heartbeats of 133. They weighed over 5 lbs each at the last growth scan and they are estimated to be close to 6 1/2 lbs at birth. We're both so excited, it's really crazy to imagine having two kids by next weekend.
In a chance to offer equal opportunity eternal punishment, the Vatican has issued 7 new mortal sins. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/72870 71.stm
My questions are:
1) Do "drug pushers" include pharmaceutical representatives? What about peer pressure? Am I a drug pusher for having chanted "chug" at a party?
2) And where is the line between obscenely wealthy and comfortable. Just the other day I heard Tori Spelling saying how "relatively speaking" she has much less money now than she did when she was living under her father's roof. She's barely getting by. You know who's "obscenely wealthy?" The Vatican.
3) Pollution--what if I recycle paper and plastic, but not corrugated cardboard because they don't do that in my area?
4) What exactly is a "dubious scientific experiment?" Does this include putting Peeps in the microwave?
The Vatican also introduced "Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road"

My personal favorite:
5.) Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
